Sikorsky S-43, 1936

I borrowed the basic composition for this scene from a Pratt & Whitney advertisement showing a Sikorsy S-43 of Inter-Island Airways. I have added the registration number NC-15062 of Inter-Island's #6 aircraft which was delivered in early 1936. The airline took delivery of their fourth and final S-43 in late 1939. The Maui connection on this image is of course imaginary. I plan to do a S-43 scene at the then Maui Airport at Puunene.



I obtained these ads from eBay. There is no publication or date on the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft ad but the United Aircraft Corp. ad is from Time Magazine of Sept. 26, 1938.
